Comments from Emergency Patients at Mayo Retina

Review I

Trained at one of the top eye centers in the US.
When I had an eye problem I found his office on the net and called out of the blue, got his answering service and he called back within 5 minutes, he came down and opened his office on the weekend.
Turns out I had retinal tears in my left eye and he saved my sight.

Highly recommended,
he likes dogs and bunnies too!

Review II

It has been a very long year, having suffered a torn retina in July, and then a detached retina in November, but I can't imagine going through this without the confidence I have had in Dr. Mayo. He has been completely up front with me regarding my possible outcomes but to date, he has basically brought my blind eye back to life. He continues to keep me in touch with all the potential difficulties ahead, but I truly feel like we are "on it" and with his expertise, I have the best chance to sustain my vision. Vanessa, his primary assistant, does an AMAZING job of keeping his office on track and "moving." I have been in their waiting room more than a dozen times and I have waited more than a few minutes only before I was called back to an exam room. She faithfully calls the day before my appt just to make sure I have not forgotten! The longer wait time that one day was due to an emergency procedure he had to perform on another patient. You just have to keep in mind that YOU might be that patient someday with YOUR vision at risk. Rochelle worked overtime to pull strings to get the right hospital operating room ready for me in a timely manner as time is always of the essence when it comes to problems like mine. I honestly think she spent half of a work day working on my behalf while I was flying home from Hawaii, blind in one eye. I will be going on medicare shortly and when that time comes I will be choosing a primary care physician based on what group allows me to continue with Dr. Mayo as my Ophthalmologist.
