I'm a retired physician who traveled from Albuquerque to Garden Grove specifically to receive photobiomodulation therapy with Dr. George Mayo at Mayo Retina. After just six of my nine scheduled treatments, my vision has already improved to 20/20 in both eyes (corrected)--a remarkable and encouraging result.
Dr. Mayo has been exceptional from the start. He personally helped coordinate my treatment schedule around travel logistics, even coming in on weekends to accommodate my every-other-day sessions. Dr George Mayo is a truly stellar retina specialist and ophthalmologist. He is respectful, compassionate, incredibly smart, curious and up to date (truly cutting edge) with latest scientifically proven treatments. When I had some trepidation about a new treatment for dry macular degeneration (Valeda Light Therapy) he answered all of my questions and engaged with me in a dialogue about the treatment (I ask a lot of questions!) until I felt not only comfortable but excited. His calm and caring demeanor and his apparent love for his work makes for a wonderful partner in your healing journey when an unwanted diagnosis comes your way.
He has always been available to me - returning calls personally and making sure his office is running smoothly. Can't recommend him more!
